Finding rules for audit opinions prediction through data mining methods

    Get PDF
Nowadays data mining, which is used in various accounting and financial applications, has received a great deal of attention. One of these applications is predicting and identifying the audit opinion type. The objective of research is to help auditors identify audit opinions by using a support vector machine from data mining methods. The system receives the data from financial reports and identifies the type of audit opinions. This approach combine support vector machine with a decision tree that can understand and interpret the obtained results. In this paper, a novel approach for rule extraction from support vector machine and decision tree is presented and its application is shown in the prediction of audit opinions. The research result is 30 rules that predict the audit opinions

Static Eccentricity Fault Detection in Brushless Doubly Fed Induction Machines based on MotorCurrent Signature Analysis

    Get PDF
In this paper a new rotor eccentricity fault detection method is proposed for the first time for Brushless Doubly Fed Induction Machines (BDFIMs). Due to the fact that BDFIMs are attractive alternatives to doubly fed induction machines for wind power generation, paying attention to their fault diagnosis is essential. Existing fault detection methods for conventional induction machines can not be directly applied to the BDFIM due to its special rotor structure and stator winding configurations as well as the complex magnetic fields. In this paper a new fault detection technique based on stator current harmonic analysis is proposed to detect rotor eccentricity faults in the BDFIM. The validity of the proposed fault detection method is verified by analytical winding function method and finite element analysis on a prototype D180 BDFIM. Index Terms—Brushless doubly fed induction machines, Nested-loop rotor slot harmonics, Motor current signature analysis, Winding function method, Finite element analysis, Static eccentricity fault

Reproductive biology of two sympatric species of tooth-carps: Aphanius hormuzensis and Aphanius furcatus, from south of Iran (Teleostei: Aphaniidae)

Some aspects of the reproductive biology of two endemic tooth-carps, Aphanius hormuzensis and A. furcatus, from southern Iran, were studied by regular monthly collections throughout one year. Significant differences were observed between the total number of females and males, females being more abundant. Based on the pattern of reproductive indices including the gonado-somatic index and Dobriyal Index, it was concluded that these fishes spawn in April and May. The estimated absolute fecundity of A. hormuzensis ranged from 78 (TL = 32.2 mm) to 730 (TL = 51.1 mm), with a mean value of 219.78±66.50 oocytes per fish based on 15 females. The relative fecundity ranged from 68.45 to 518.54 oocytes/g body mass (Mean±S.D: 237.67±96.87 oocytes/g). For A. furcatus, the estimated absolute fecundity ranged from 53 (TL = 26.9 mm) to 102 (TL = 32.04 mm), with a mean value of 93.73±45.37 oocytes per fish based on 15 females. The relative fecundity ranged from 22.41 to 123.65 oocytes/g body mass (Mean±S.D: 64.98±23.37 oocytes/g). Due to overlapping of spawning season in these two sympatric species, it seems that other pre- and post-zygotic factors are responsible for absence of natural hybrids in the studies tooth-carps in the Mehran River

RELATION BETWEEN ANTHROPOMETRIC DATA AND PERFORMANCE OF LOWER LIMB IN SQUAT JUMP

In this study, the total peak of joints’ torque, work, and the maximum jump height were measured in ten physically active male subjects performing the squat jump (SJ), and squat jump with arm swing (SJA). Accordingly, arm swing caused an increment in the heights of squat jump (p\u3c0.001).The results revealed relationships between body mass and height with the total peak of joints’ torque (0.5

High sensitivity C-reactive protein is associated with the metabolic syndrome independent to viral and bacterial pathogen burden

To investigate the influences of bacterial or viral pathogen burden in the relationship of high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and the metabolic syndrome in a population-based study. METHODS: Data from 1754 men and women aged >or=25 years, from the Persian Gulf Healthy Heart Study were analyzed. The definition of the metabolic syndrome according to the Adult Treatment Panel III was used. Sera were analyzed for IgG antibodies to Chlamydia pneumoniae, Herpes simplex virus type 1, Helicobacter pylori and cytomegalovirus using ELISA. Measurement of CRP by a high-sensitivity CRP assay was done. RESULTS: The subjects with the metabolic syndrome had a higher geometric mean of CRP levels than the normal persons (p<0.0001). A linear relationship between an increase in the number of metabolic syndrome components and CRP concentrations was observed (p for trend<0.0001). In multiple logistic regression models, hs-CRP showed significant associations with the metabolic syndrome after controlling for cardiovascular risk factors and infectious burden divided into 2, 3 and 4 pathogens [OR=2.06, CI (1.32-3.21), p=0.001; OR=1.75, CI (1.26-2.42), p=0. 001; OR=2.12, CI (1.46-3.08), p<0.0001; respectively]

Background. Periorbital basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is considered a high risk case because it is associated with high rate of recurrence and complication. Superpulsed CO2 laser with intraoperative pathologic assessment could be an alternative and appropriate treatment for periocular lesions where Mohs micrographic surgery is not available. Objective. To evaluate the efficacy of superpulsed CO2 laser therapy with intraoperative pathologic assessment on periocular BCC involving eyelash line. Method. This follow-up study was performed on 20 patients with a total of 21 BCC lesions that were pathologically documented. Firstly, debulkation of tumoral mass was done by curettage. Then, irradiation and intraoperative pathologic evaluation were done by concurrent CO2 laser. The patients were followed up for a period of 36 months. Results. Out of 21 lesions, the nodular type accounted for 15 (71.4%) lesions, and 12 (57.1%) lesions were seen in the lower lid as the most common clinical type and site involvement. Twenty BCC lesions (95.2%) were treated after one session. Damage to eyelash was seen in 2 (10%) patients, but ectropion and other complications were not seen in any patient. Conclusion. Treatment with superpulsed CO2 laser and intraoperative pathologic evaluation for periorbital BCC lesions much close to conjunctiva could be an effective method with minimal complications without major danger of recurrence. This modality can be used with care in the inner canthus and high risk pathologic lesions
